VOLVO OCEAN RACE 2005 - 2006
PEDRO CAMPOS AND IKER MARTÍNEZ JOIN “MOVISTAR”
The Spanish team trained in the Table Bay’s Race Area with 30 Knots of wind

The second inshore race of the Volvo Ocean Race 2005-2006 is almost here. The Cape Town’s In Port race will run around Table Bay’s waters tomorrow, Monday. Yesterday, “movistar” team was training with heavy conditions.

This week, “movistar” has joined two new crews onboard: Pedro Campos and Iker Martínez. Both Campos and Martínez, will sail with the Spanish team and they finalize details ahead the inshore race.

Yesterday, it was a hard inshore training –Pedro Campos pointed out- since there were winds up to 30 knots so we had to sail with three reefs in the mainsail. We have been sailing just one hour, but it was enough to test the boat”.

The expected sailing conditions in the next In Port Race talks about Southeast winds blowing between 15 and 25 knots. Iker Martínez explained his feelings: “To sail yesterday has been a good choice, because the wind came from the same direction than it will tomorrow, although we hope the wind will drop a little bit. Crews will suffer to have the boat under control with this wind conditions, and one mistake would be decisive”.

Start is due, at 13:00 –12:00 Spanish time- tomorrow, Monday. “We wish don’t make mistakes and we hope to get as much points as we could”, Campos concluded.
