Hiroshi Aoyama just short of the podium in fourth
DANI PEDROSA
(1st, 41’37”239): “I am really happy and a little surprised. I had never been on the podium here before and I’ve managed it, but I didn’t think I could lap that fast. The race rhythm was excellent, I was able to open a gap, keep my concentration for a lot of laps and arrive with a bit of calm at the end, controlling the tyre wear. I was a bit worried about the start because I was on the left side and it is a very tight corner which is close to the start line but I got away well and got to the front as soon as I could, knowing that if I pushed hard the group would be reduced. I didn’t expect to get away on my own. This is a really important victory for us but the championship is not over until November and I can’t afford to lose my head. I still don’t have any references with the 250 at the rest of the circuits so my objective is just to adapt in the best way possible at every race and give maximum effort.”
HIROSHI AOYAMA
(4th, + 16”769): “I already finished fourth this year in France but this was a much better race for me. I started from way back but I passed a lot of riders at the start and kept the lead group in sight. It was a long and hard race with a tough fight with De Puniet, Rolfo and Elías. I am really happy because I got better and better and at the end the result is great for the team, with Dani spectacular once again.”
ALBERTO PUIG
(Team manager): “It was a fantastic race and I want to congratulate both my riders. Hiro was very strong and Dani was magnificent. This is a difficult circuit and Dani had never gone well here before, but his rhythm was unbelievable – we didn’t expect him to do low 25s. That is when the race was broken and even though Porto pushed, Dani didn’t let off at all. His performance was spectacular. Hiro also took a big step forward, fighting with experienced riders. The balance is very positive for the team.”
