DUTCH TT. 1st. QUALIFYING PRACTICE

Fecha 24-06-2004

DANI PEDROSA

(8th, 2’21”260): “More than the position, I’m satisfied with my lap times in comparison with pole position. It’s not bad for me at such a long circuit and up against a wet specialist. This circuit allows you to ride confidently in the wet because it is cambered but the wind pushes you around as well and sometimes it feels as though the wheels aren’t even on the ground – it’s like you’re floating. In general I feel more comfortable with the 250 than the 125 in the wet, but I would like a few laps in the dry tomorrow in case the conditions improve ahead of the race”.

HIROSHI AOYAMA

(15th, 2’22”615): “I had a crash just before the chicane – I lost the front end and I couldn’t control it. I had had a good session up to that point and we were just about to go for a better time, but the important thing is that I didn’t get hurt. I felt better and better every time I went on the track so hopefully tomorrow I can improve my position on the grid”.

ALBERTO PUIG

(Team Manager): “The session went well. It is always more difficult to ride in the wet and Dani doesn’t like it so much. But the result is positive because a lap time just 1.9 seconds slower than a wet specialist such as Anthony West is satisfying. The disappointing thing was Hiro’s crash. It seems it was a mechanical problem and we’ll have to analyse it. As far as tomorrow is concerned we’re at the mercy of the weather. If it rains we have to keep working as we are and if it’s dry then we’ll work on a setting in the hope that the race will be dry as well”.
