CZECH REPUBLIC GRAND PRIX. 1st. QUALIFYING PRACTICE

Fecha 20-08-2004

DANIEL PEDROSA

(20th, 2’21”803): “At the start of the session the conditions were wet and I felt quite comfortable, getting gradually stronger. But then the track started to dry, more or less 50%, and that was a new situation for us in 250cc. I don’t know the tyres well and we put the dry ones on too late – as well as never having used the intermediates before. With this in mind, the result doesn’t affect my plans for this weekend and I have learnt something new – I realise that the mixed tyre could have been fitted earlier but if the situation is the same tomorrow then I’m sure we can do much better.”

HIROSHI AOYAMA

(8th, 2’16”639): “I have felt comfortable with this track from the start and I was lapping well in the wet – I felt comfortable. But in the last five minutes, when the other riders were on mixed tyres, I didn’t want to risk anything – although if things are the same tomorrow I’ll go for it.”

ALBERTO PUIG

(Team manager): “It was a bit of a strange session today and it was difficult because of the track conditions, which didn’t quite dry out. We took a while to choose the tyre, but you learn something new every day. We will have to do better tomorrow to improve the starting position and sort out the set-up of the bike according to the weather.”
