AUSTRALIAN GP. OFFICIAL REPORT RACE

Fecha 17-10-2004

DANI, ˇDOUBLE WORLD CHAMPION!!

DANIEL PEDROSA

(4th): “I am really pleased with this result. It was really tough out there – as the race went on the wind got stronger and the risk of crashing grew. It’s been a difficult weekend, with mechanical problems, a bad crash and my memories from last year. My confidence wasn’t exactly maximum. When I saw that the lead group were going so fast, I decided to let Poggiali past and make sure of fourth position and the title. I want to thank everybody who has contributed to this triumph, to Movistar, Honda, my excellent mechanics, Alberto and everybody who worked with me in the winter with their love and affection for the several long months it took me to recover from the accident at this track a year ago”.

HIROSHI AOYAMA

(7th): “It was a really difficult race because we made a mistake with the tyre choice. We chose a compound which was too hard and it didn’t have enough grip so I couldn’t open the gas, especially in the fast corners. I got a good start but I was unable to follow the lead group.  I would like to congratulate Dani – he is a fantastic team-mate.”

ALBERTO PUIG

(Team manager): “This is a very special moment. Dani has had a wonderful season, he’s a phenomenom. I am really proud of him – only he knows how hard he has worked to get here”.
