Thanks to Alberto’s experience and a highly-qualified technical team, the project was a complete success. Olivé become the youngest ever champion in the history of the series, Raúl Jara came second and Pedrosa finished fourth. In 2001 the Telefónica MoviStar Junior Team made the step up to the 125cc World Championship with Toni Elías, Dani Pedrosa and Joan Olivé, finishing as the best private team in the category. Elías fought for the title until the end of the season, finishing as the best privateer rider and Dani Pedrosa won the Rookie of the Year title, scoring two podiums at just 15 years of age. In 2002 Pedrosa finished third in the 125cc World Championship with three wins and a total of nine podiums, going on to win the title in 2003.
