RIO GP. REPORT RACE

Fecha 04-07-2004

DANI PEDROSA

(2º): “There are a lot of reasons to feel satisfied with this result. It is my first time on the podium in Rio, where I have always had a lot of problems. It is also a good points haul which puts me first in the championship, even though there are nine races left and this is not the time to change our plan, which is to keep learning at every race. We managed to get the bike set up at the last possible minute and I have to be thankful for a great job by mechanics. I got a good start, we set a high rhythm, but today Poggiali was very strong and there was no need to risk a very favourable result which we didn’t expect after so many problems this weekend”.

HIROSHI AOYAMA

(6th): In the warm-up we managed to get the bike feeling good, and I was confident in my chances before going out for the race. I made a good start and that allowed me to follow the second group. I gave a hundred percent at all times, and there wasn't a moment's respite. I'm very satisifed with this result."

ALBERTO PUIG

(Team manager): “I have to say that we're really happy. Yesterday we had problems with Dani and Hiro's bikes, but the team has done a fantastic job and the riders have finished the job off well, which is the most important thing. Dani had a sensational race and the result is excellent, especially considering that we had always had problems here. As far as Hiro is concerned, he started 15th and ended sixth, which shows his great progression”.
