DANIEL PEDROSA
(3rd, 1’41”679): “We got on with the job quickly thinking that the weather might start making life difficult for us tomorrow, as it did in Brno. The pace was quick and the wind wasn’t a problem, which always makes things easier. It was a good session and the provisional grid position is good, although I hope we can keep working well tomorrow. It’s a bumpy circuit and the bike moves around a lot here so it is difficult to get a good feeling in a short space of time. Taking into account that we have only had two hours here on the 250 I am satisfied because the set-up is well advanced and we can make more improvements tomorrow.”
HIROSHI AOYAMA
(6th, 1’42”709): “I can say that I found it easier to get to know the track here in the first session than I have at other circuits and in the afternoon we made good progress, but I made a mistake and crashed. I felt good on the bike and I pushed a bit too hard trying to get the time down in one lap. I went back to the pit to get the bike fixed and when I went back out there wasn’t much time to put a good lap in on soft tyres. The crash was a shame but the feeling is good.”
ALBERTO PUIG
(Team manager): “Dani went out with his mind made up that he wanted a fast time in case it rains tomorrow – we didn’t want a repeat of what happened at Brno. Even though he lost out on pole on the last lap, the result is good. As far as Hiro is concerned, he is also making fast progress and the important thing is that the crash was something and nothing.”
